Welcome to the Deer Creek Marina!
Located in the heart of Ohio's agricultural country, Deer Creek State Park is central Ohio's vacation showplace. A collage of meadows and woodland surround the 1,277 acre scenic resevoir. Deer Creek Lake is a man-made lake and its deepest point is 40 feet near the dam. The US Army Corps of Engineers built the dam for flood control. Construction began in 1965 and was completed in 1968.
Today, there are over 1,290 acres of water behind the dam. The Deer Creek Lake feeds into the Scioto River, which is more than 231 miles in length. The river is mainly used for recreation and drinking water. This resort park features a modern lodge, cabins, campground, golf course, swimming beach, and boating for outdoor enthusiasts.
The lake at Deer Creek is famous for its early spring saugeye fishing below the dam. Sportsmen will also enjoy fishing for channel catfish, largemouth bass, white bass, carp, and bluegill. Deer Creek Lake is also a good lake for anglers seeking crappies. Use minnow and jigs in areas with brushy cover during April and May. Redworms and wax worms are used to catch bluegill.
Unlimited horsepower boating is permitted on the Deer Creek reservoir. Two launch ramps provide access to the lake at the Deer Creek State Park Marina (west ramp), and at the Harding Cabin Boat Ramp Area (east ramp). The fully equipped marina offers fuel, boat rental and seasonal dock rentals.
